Holy crap.

If Miranda was a cop in the real world, which she probably would be since she’s the cop of the spiritual world in LoEM, she would read criminals their Miranda rights. Before handcuffing them and stuffing them into her cruiser and driving off into the night like a boss.

And her name is Miranda. So Miranda reads criminals their Miranda rights.

Coincidence? LOLNOPE.

because I just giggled. for real.

The Blonde One: aaaaaand there he goes being a bastard again. XD
Kay: :))
The Blonde One: IT'S PROBABLY THE MONPRESS DEMON D: WHAT DO

The Blonde One: I'll send Sted. He's just stupid enough to take the job
The Blonde One: and if the Shepherdess kills him, nbd.
Kay: XD yes
The Blonde One: I'll just plead ignorance. :D
The Blonde One: (it's BRILLIANT BRILLIANT BRILLIANT!)

My love for Miranda Lyonette knows no bounds.

I mean, she’s dealing with Eli.

(I am fond of Eli, but good god he’s one of those characters I love in fiction but would not love as a friend because I would smack the hell out of him all the time.)

Also, y’know, sure, she doesn’t like Eli’s brand of wizarding; you can’t really blame her! Oh no, she’s being ~mean~ to the poor protagonist. No, she’s being cautious about a wizard who can do things other wizards can’t who might be an enslaver. SHE DOESN’T HAVE THE BENEFIT OF READING THE ELI-CENTRIC BITS. As far as she’s concerned, he’s dangerous! And he is a criminal. She’s got every reason to distrust him.

CRYING IRL

actually I was already crying about something else WHATEVER

CRYING AND GOING :D

(ps even when she finds out what’s really going on with him? SHE BITCHSLAPS HIM FOR IT.)

I AM GLAD I MAKE YOU GO :D

(I am sure she does! Since some of what he does is dodgy anyway. I love that she gets so angry when he scares spirits because THAT’S NOT WHAT YOU DO, ELI. Which is not to say I think he’s bad or anything, just that they both have a vastly different perspective on spirits and neither of them is necessarily wrong but those perspectives will lead to butting heads now and then.)

Well, Eli gets really mad at Nico for what she does as regards scaring spirits later on, so he is at least … I mean, he realizes when it goes too far. Not that I’m inclined to defend anyone because it’s not really a kind of thing where you can have a side. Neither of them are ever explicitly wrong and are coming from really different angles. How screwed up Eli has been by his past basically isn’t ever blatantly stated in the text, but it’s there if you look for it — and she doesn’t know about any of it. And I don’t know if she would care if she did, because from her perspective he’s just stupid. Also, catching him is kind of her job, at least for a while; it only stops being when they’re forced to work together.

Oh, good. I like when characters realise stuff :D But yeah, I am loving the fact that the text neither supports nor condemns either him or Miranda for their points of view, because from what I can tell so far, both points of view are reasonable ones.

I can see her maybe being sympathetic that he’s screwed up but not caring as far as excusing what he does, because he still steals things and gives wizards a bad name and it’s her job to make him stop doing that.

(They are working together at the moment! Creeping around the castle cellars and Josef going WHY DID YOU NOT TELL US THIS SOONER MIRANDA and Miranda going BECAUSE I’M NOT STUPID ENOUGH TO TELL ELI MONPRESS ABOUT SOMETHING I THOUGHT HE WAS HERE TO STEAL.)

Technically, no one is ever in the wrong.

Even the Shepherdess is — well, Karon of all people backs up the fact that she used to be loving, and something went wrong. Due to the age of the artifact you’re about to meet we can discern that happened about 400 years prior to canon and got progressively worse over the years. But she’s definitely gotten twisted up, rather than just being pure evil; she’s definitely wrong about a lot of things she does, but it’s not like she’s a horrible bitch for the lulz.

The League of Storms are generally at odds with the protagonists — at least always Nico, sometimes up to all four of them, even though at one part Eli gets the upper hand on Alric — but they’re not any more in the wrong than anyone else is, because they’re doing their job and, you know, demons are bad —

Wait, I forgot. Sara’s always in the wrong. Never mind.

OKAY, EVERYTHING IN THIS POST. Especially about Miranda and Eli. UGH this is everything I want to say all the TIME only I thought Rue was the only one who understood. (And Hannah. But we are twins so that goes without saying. ILU HANNAH. ♥)

You even make me kiiinda feel for Benehime. A little. I’m with the Miranda mindset— I get that she’s screwed up, BUT THAT’S NO EXCUSE AND OMG BOOK FOOOOOUR *raaaaaaaage*

Speaking of Miranda (sort of), I want to be able to close this picture of Goran Visnjic and his hair, so I’m just going to post it here. That hair has a personality, I swear. Mind of its own.
So awkward that this guy is the protagonist of K-11, for so many reasons. Most of them due to Desmond Megurian.

did I reblog this yet? I don’t know.
ARGH GORAN VISNJIC JUST GET ON MY DASH AND STAY THERE.

So I saw this photoset in the Tumblr Radar, and my first thoughts were “OH HEY, JOSEF WOULD LOOK GOOD WITH A BEARD.”

(other thoughts that followed were “Josef will age well” and “this pleases me very much”)

Sorry David Beckham no I’m not

Finally, it’s up! The Legend of Eli Monpress: The Drinking Game, a.k.a. How to Get Sloshed Before You Finish The First Five Chapters. Inspired by this drinking game, although theirs looks a lot prettier. Enjoy!
